WRITING
Over more than two decades of professional work, Arman Arian has woven the myths, epics, and history of ancient Iran into the lived experience of the contemporary human being. Author of more than forty books—including trilogies, a pentalogy, novellas, short story collections, and illustrated series—he has continually expanded the boundaries of Persian literature, moving from epic and dark fantasy to broader explorations that speak to readers of all ages.
BOOK SERIES
Arman Arian’s major contributions to literature appear in his book series, ranging from expansive trilogies and a pentalogy to illustrated adaptations of the Shahnameh. These works—including The Persians and I, Ashvazdangeh, Ancient Future, Jah Borzin, the Patash Khowargar pentalogy —offer young readers and adults alike powerful journeys through epic, fantasy, and cultural storytelling.
NOVELLAS
Arman Arian has also authored several novellas that offer compact yet imaginative journeys for younger readers. These include Dark Garden Nightmare, The Book of Enchantment, White Garden Dream, Dark–Light, and Sepitmān: The Story of Zoroaster’s Life, each exploring themes of fantasy, history, and cultural memory in accessible narrative form.
SHORT STORIES
Arman Arian has also published collections of short stories that reveal another dimension of his literary voice. These include I Am Someone’s Son Too (2022), Deaf Owl (2018), Bitter Earring (2007, later translated into Turkish as Acı Küpe in 2015). ILLUSTRATED WORKS
Arman Arian has also created illustrated books that bring Persian myths and stories to life through the interplay of image and text. These include the Shahnamag series, an adaptation of the Shahnameh for children and young adults, as well as Sepidbāl, a standalone illustrated volume. Beyond his fiction, Arman Arian has authored and compiled a number of non-fiction works that reflect his role as a researcher, educator, and cultural thinker. These include Pure Seeds: A Collection of Mystical Writings (2018), Writing about Writing: Image of a Spirit (2016), The Book of Wisdom: A Hundred Advices Heard a Thousand Times (2012), The Encyclopedia of Avesta’s Dramatic Elements (2011), The Guide to Storytelling for Computer Games (2010, co-authored with Elnaz Nasehi), and The Silent Uproar: A Collection of Thoughts and Articles (2011). Together, these works range from practical guides and essay collections to scholarly studies of mythology, offering insights into both the creative process and Iran’s cultural heritage.
